What Is Emergency Mode on Samsung Phones?
Emergency mode is an inbuilt Samsung Galaxy setting that allows you to buy extra time in emergencies. This setting will optimize your device to save battery power for as long as possible while you seek help.
It’s almost identical to Samsung’s maximum power-saving mode but with the ability to send a distress signal with one touch. You can send an emergency alarm, have quick access to the flashlight, send your coordinates as a text message, and make emergency calls.
How Does Emergency Mode Work?
When you activate the Emergency mode, your phone cuts out or tones down activities that may drain your battery. It will reduce the screen brightness, change your theme to dark mode, reduce the screen resolution, and only allow you to use specific essential apps.
You’ll be limited to the following apps: Emergency alarm, Phone, Messages, Samsung Internet, Maps, Clock, Calculator, Torch, and some messenger apps like Facebook and WhatsApp. Emergency calling will also be quickly accessible in this mode.
The Emergency alarm is quite loud once you activate it, as any SOS alarm should be. If you have any emergency contacts saved, you or someone else can access them without having to unlock your phone.
How to Set Up Emergency Mode on Your Samsung Galaxy Device
Setting up Emergency mode is possible within seconds. Here’s how to go about it:
Long press the power button on your Samsung device. Tap the Emergency mode icon and unlock your device if prompted to do so. A prompt will pop up explaining what your device can do in Emergency mode. Tap Turn on and wait for a few seconds for the Emergency mode to be ready. You’re now set to wait for help or seek help with a bit of extra juice on your battery. From the new Emergency mode home screen, you can share your location, sound an alarm, access the internet, and more.
Once you’re in the clear and don’t need Emergency mode anymore, you can turn it off as easily as you turned it on in one of these two ways:
Long press the power button on your phone. Tap the Emergency mode icon and enter your pin if needed. Your device will be back to its normal settings instantly. On the home screen, tap the three-dot menu button on the top right, and tap Turn off Emergency mode.
