HBO Is Celebrating Its 50th Anniversary

HBO is celebrating 50 years in business with HBO’s 50 Years of Firsts event. With its formation on November 8th, 1972, HBO created a new powerhouse in the entertainment sector.

HBO’s legacy is one of telling groundbreaking stories. Fifty Years of Firsts celebrates the works of those who elevated the entertainment experience and gives a look ahead from those who will continue to do so in HBO’s future. We are excited to relive these moments with fans and honor our brilliant storytellers.

It will highlight HBO’s beginnings in 1972 and follow through with its greatest hits to date.

The exclusive content will range from behind-the-scenes footage with cast interviews of fan favorites to previews of upcoming HBO original content.

Exclusive content will pertain to the much-hyped Game of Thrones spinoff, House of the Dragon. It will also include previews for the upcoming seasons of fan favorites The White Lotus, Succession, and Barry.

You will need an HBO Max subscription to HBO’s exclusive 50 Years of Firsts content. These previews and exclusives are available on a new custom-made HBO 50 page on HBO Max.
