What Is Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase?
Nintendo’s Indie World event is a short, 20-minute livestream showcasing games from independent developers that are coming to Nintendo Switch within the next year. The event shows the trailer of an upcoming game filled with actual gameplay and beautiful color palettes.
Nintendo then interviews the head developers of the game to give some more information on what the title is all about. Typically, the dev will describe the game’s setting, mood, the character’s previous adventures, and explain interesting gameplay mechanics.
When Is the Nintendo Indie World Showcase?
Nintendo has been promoting independent developers with games coming to the Switch library since 2017. In 2017 and 2018, Nintendo called this livestream the Nintendo Switch Nindies Showcase, which premiered in August.
Starting in 2019, Nintendo changed the name to the Indie World Showcase, livestreaming to gamers in mid-December. Nintendo also promotes indie games currently available on Switch, via the Indie World section of its website.
