Unfortunately, Rockstar Games has never released a list of the top performing vehicles in their immensely popular sandbox, which makes hard it tricky to determine an ideal candidate. Without any official stats to go by, fans have drawn various conclusions on the topic.
For example, IGN bestowed the honor of “fastest car” to the Grotti Itali RSX while Inverse chose the Ocelot Pariah instead and some fans on Reddit have even suggested that it might be the Karin Calico GTF that was introduced as part of July’s Los Santos Tuners DLC (provided that you lower the vehicle’s stance and replace the tires with low-grip alternatives).
Ultimately, it comes down to how you interpret the descriptor of “fastest car”. You could have a speedster that elapses great distances in a flash when driving on a straight road, but if you are thinking about racing then you also have to consider factors like acceleration, traction and handling. This is the reason that IGN decided to go with the Grotti Itali, as they argued that it was the best overall car in terms of maintaining a high velocity.
The Fastest Cars in ‘GTA V Online’ by Top Speed
Yet generally speaking, if you are in the market for the fastest ride in GTA V Online, then you are probably looking for the one that is capable of reaching the highest miles per hour (mph) figure. In other words, the car that will eventually build up the most speed if you are just zooming down a straight road, like an airport runway, and don’t let up on the gas.
While you might assume that narrowing it down in this way would result in a clear-cut answer, there is still some debate. Pundits will usually recommend either the Ocelot Pariah or the Karin Calico GT. Again, because the top speeds have never been released by Rockstar itself, a lot of this is based on anecdotal evidence.
The most thorough investigation into the subject has been done by the YouTuber Adam Brough (aka Brough1322), who has countless videos dedicated to putting each car through its paces and then ranking them based on various criteria. According to Brough’s ranking, the fastest car in Grand Theft Auto V is the Ocelot Pariah, which he managed to clock at 136 mph (when fully tuned). He then has IGN’s pick (the Grotti Itali RSX) listed at 135 mph and the Pfister 811 at 132 mph.

Is the Karin Calico GT the Fastest Car in ‘Grand Theft Auto V Online’?
Interestingly, the Karin Calico does not feature anywhere in Brough’s top 5, despite many considering it to be superior to the Pariah (claiming it can reach speeds of over 160 mph). In fact, Brough’s tests only saw it reach 121 mph.
This is because he has discounted the use of a specific trick that enabled the Calico to travel at an unnatural velocity. In a nutshell, it was once possible to boost the car’s performance when it was modified with a lower stance and low-grip tires, but this made it fundamentally impossible to turn even the slightest corner. For all intents and purposes, it was essentially just a bullet that could go in one direction.
Brough argues that this was just a bug that made the Calico (and the other vehicles included in the Los Santos Tuner update) faster than it was ever supposed to be and so he did not count that in his rankings. What’s more, the ability to exploit this glitch has since been patched out of the game anyway.
As such, there was once a time where the Calico was technically faster than the Pariah (even if you couldn’t steer it properly) but that is no longer the case.
How Much Does the Ocelot Pariah Cost?
If you want to grab the Ocelot Pariah in GTA V Online, you will need to save up a lot of cash. The vehicle’s standard price is $1,420,000, although it is occasionally discounted for special events.
Newsweek has contacted Rockstar Games for an official verdict on what is the fastest car in Grand Theft Auto V Online. At the time of writing, there has been no response.
